How it works

www.isanyonegoingto.com is available to anyone in the U.K. who is 18 years and above to organise online travel share.

First the science bit……

  1. There are over 32,000,000 million vehicles in the U.K.
  2. On average 24.6 miles are driven every day by single user vehicles.
  3. Over 400,000 tones of carbon dioxide emissions are pumped into the atmosphere every day.

Together we can all make a difference, if we change the way we travel.

To Start:

  1. Register your details online
  2. Choose a user name
  3. Search for members taking the same journeys as you using your post code, town or event
  4. Make contact through the site
  5. Arrange to share the journey
  6. Promote your travel and/or event
  7. Make new friends
  8. Be a better person…

At all times our members have complete control over their personal information.

Benefits:

www.isanyonegoingto.com’s community save money. When a member shares a car/vehicle with other commuters he or she saves on fuel cost, parking cost and vehicle maintenance cost.

  1. We will decongest roads.
  2. We aim to reduce pollution and carbon dioxide emissions thereby reducing global warming.
  3. Stress free travel for members who are not driving on a specific journey.
  4. Higher occupancy rates also can reduce consumption of oil thereby reducing corresponding political and economic risks, emissions of greenhouse gases, common pollution.
  5. We save considerable expenses from petrol, oil, tyres, car depreciation, tolls, parking, and in some cases insurance.
  6. Members may provide social connections in an increasingly disconnected society. www.isanyonegoingto.com offers new ways to make social connections.
  7. In some coutries there are designated carpool lanes on motorways (usually called High-Occupancy Vehicle, or HOV, lanes), which may make travel faster.

More U.K. Stats.

Overall, there are 32,897,000 vehicles registered for use on UK roads including cars, vans, taxis, buses and trucks.

Travelling 499.4 Billion Kilometres per year.

4 Wheeled car drivers travelling an average of 8,980 miles per year. Broken down to 1,100 business miles, 2,840 commuting miles, 5,040 other mileage.

Producing 146,000,000 tons of Carbon Dioxide emissions damaging our Ozone Level.

The Government was counting on a cut in transport emissions to meet its domestic target of reducing carbon dioxide emissions to 20% below 1990 levels by 2010

Road transport accounts for 22% of total UK emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) - a major contributor to climate change.

Cutting Carbon Dioxide Emmissions

CO2 emission would be saved if everyone with a car cut 1 car journey per week?

Average 400 trips per person per year would be reduced to 350

All car emissions = 13% UK total

Saving = 2,366,000t = 1.6% of UK carbon emissions = 100kg per household

It depends very much on assumptions e.g. this assumes you cut an average trip (=9 miles) but you might cut all 2 mile trips; then you have to take into account emissions in the first mile or so being higher.
